Hon. Suwaibou Touray, the National Assembly Member for Wuli East, expressed serious concerns about corruption in The Gambia, estimating an annual loss of D1.5 billion due to corrupt practices.
During a debate, he addressed issues in the petroleum sector highlighted in a report from the Finance and Public Accounts Committee (FPAC) and the Public Enterprises Committee (PEC), pointing out mismanagement and favoritism.
He criticized several petroleum companies for failing to submit tax returns as required by law and called for the establishment of a national petroleum testing facility to ensure quality standards.
