Gambian Delegation Advocates for Climate Action and Agricultural Reform at Pan-African Parliament Symposium

At the Pan-African Parliament’s P20 Symposium, Gambian delegates, including Hon. Sulayman Saho and Hon. Fatoumatta Njai, urged climate action, agricultural empowerment, and fair trade to tackle Africa’s food insecurity and infrastructure challenges.

Delegates from The Gambia attended the Pan-African Parliament’s P20 Symposium, focusing on urgent climate change action, agricultural development, industrialization, and fair trade in Africa.

Hon. Sulayman Saho emphasized the severe impact of climate change on African agriculture and called on African nations to lead the way in finding solutions.

Hon. Sawaibou Touray emphasized the importance of empowering smallholder farmers and urged the development of support systems to enhance their agricultural capacity.

He also criticized unfair international trade practices. Hon. Fatoumatta Njai highlighted Africa’s agricultural potential in contrast to food insecurity, calling for actionable strategies and collaboration with the private sector to address infrastructure and financial challenges faced by farmers.
