During the side event titled “#ClimateEmpowerment: Achieving Children’s Rights and Youth Leadership for Just Climate Action,” Hon. Minister Rohey John-Manjang participated on a panel focused on youth involvement in climate decision-making.

She stressed The Gambia’s dedication to executing its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) through authentic shared decision-making. Among key initiatives mentioned were compulsory social inclusion metrics for climate projects, the participation of youth representatives and gender specialists in evaluating NDC drafts, and the government’s pledge to finance the involvement of young Gambians in climate negotiations at #COY20 and #COP30.

The Minister underscored the significance of enabling youth and children as rights-holders through education and active participation to realize fair climate solutions.
