KMC Gambia has Secured Over D3 Million After Being Named a top 50 Finalist in the Bloomberg Mayors Challenge

The Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) has been selected as one of 50 global finalists in the 2025 Bloomberg Philanthropies Challenge, receiving over D3 million (about $50,000) in funding.

KMC’s innovative proposal was selected from over 630 submissions received from 33 countries. The funding will allow KMC to test its idea and participate in the Bloomberg Ideas Camp, a workshop for city leaders and experts.

In January 2026, 25 finalists will be eligible for an additional $1 million each to implement their projects. The Challenge aims to support innovative urban solutions that enhance city life.
