A delegation from Turkey, led by Deputy Energy Minister Ahmet Berat Çonkar, will participate in African Energy Week (AEW) 2025 in Cape Town from September 29 to October 3, highlighting Turkey’s increasing investments in Africa’s energy sector.

Turkey has established a strong presence in Africa’s hydrocarbon industry, having formed agreements with Somalia and Libya, while also intensifying its efforts in Senegal, Namibia, Botswana, and Zambia.

Çonkar will outline Turkey’s strategy, which centers on state-sponsored diplomacy, commercial risk-taking, and the development of infrastructure. As global powers compete for influence in Africa, Turkey seeks to position itself as a practical partner, stressing fair conditions for local communities, with support from NJ Ayuk of the African Energy Chamber, who advocates for a new model of collaboration.
