The REFELA Gambia Chapter, led by Mayor Rohey Malick Lowe of Banjul City Council, inaugurated a new water facility for women gardeners in Sohm, West Coast Region.
The project, named after Mayor Lowe’s late brother Kebba Ousman Drammeh, includes boreholes, water tanks, and pipes to ensure sustainable water access for hundreds of women.
Mayor Lowe expressed pride in this achievement, highlighting its impact on women’s empowerment and community development.
The facility is expected to improve productivity, income, and food security, and is seen as a vital resource to break the cycle of poverty.
Community members appreciate the gift and are committed to using it wisely. Mayor Lowe acknowledged the support of Senator Mohammed Isah Dar from Pakistan in making this project possible.
