The National Youth Parliament election at the Bakau Community Center ended with Alieu Badara Jallow winning 56 votes amidst a low voter turnout of 45%, with only 84 of 185 registered voters participating.

The other candidates, Kemo Darboe and Oumie Gajaga, received 25 and 3 votes, respectively. Presiding officer Amie Touray expressed disappointment over the turnout and stressed the need for enhanced civic education to engage young people.

Voters expressed concerns about unemployment and youth empowerment. Although Gajaga’s participation was significant for gender representation, the overall low turnout highlights the need for improved outreach to connect young people with the democratic process.
