On September 30, 2025, Mr. Ansumana Manneh, Director General of The Gambia Prison Service, and Inspector General Aliou CISS from Senegal met with The Gambia’s Minister of Interior, Mr. Abdoulie Sanyang.

The meeting focused on enhancing collaboration between the countries’ prison services, building on an existing Memorandum of Understanding. Key discussion points included gratitude for support, acknowledgment of ongoing reforms in The Gambia’s prison system, and commitments to modernization.

Future cooperation areas encompassed information sharing, joint efforts to prevent escapes, staff training, exchange visits, infrastructure support, and regional collaboration.

The visit highlighted The Gambia’s commitment to a modern, humane correctional system and its role in regional security cooperation.
