President Adama Barrow appointed Sering Modou Njie as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Gambians Abroad on July 9, 2025, following Dr. Mamadou Tangara’s resignation for a position at the African Union.
Vice President Muhammed B.S. Jallow will temporarily manage the Ministry of Defence.
Njie, who holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in international relations, is a former officer in the Gambia Armed Forces and has served in diplomatic roles, including as Deputy Head of Mission in India and Turkey.
