Gambia-Infrastructure-Development-Grant

The International Development Association (IDA) has approved a $52.6 million grant for The Gambia. This money will help improve the country’s infrastructure. The Gambia Infrastructure Project will enhance transport and energy networks, benefiting tens of thousands of people.

The project has five main parts:

1. Upgrading infrastructure.

2. Developing governance strategies.

3. Modernizing the delivery of services.

4. Providing technical support and training.

5. Preparing for quick emergency response.

Plans include repairing 60 kilometers of roads and connecting 80 communities to the national electricity grid. This initiative will directly benefit 40,000 residents and improve electricity access for an additional 100,000 people.

The initiative also aims to strengthen the capacity of key government agencies and aligns with the country’s Sustainable Development Goals.
