Vice President Mohammed Jallow attends the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) in Aqaba, Turkmenistan, from August 5 to 8, 2025.

The conference aims to tackle the challenges faced by LLDCs and highlights the theme “Driving Progress Through Partnership.” While The Gambia is not landlocked, Jallow emphasized its significant role as a coastal Least Developed Country (LDC) with essential trade links to landlocked countries in West Africa.

In his speech, Jallow reiterated The Gambia’s commitment to LLDCs and underscored the importance of cooperation in addressing trade expenses and fostering regional integration.

He urged partnerships with development allies, international financial institutions, and the private sector to garner support for LLDCs, stressing that a country’s geography should not dictate its future.
