UTG Lawyer Unhappy with Magistrate’s Ruling on Two Former UTG Lecturers’ Case

State-Law-Office-Appeal Lecturers

The State Law Office has appealed a High Court decision related to a case from the Kanifing Industrial Tribunal, which took place on January 31, 2025, involving two lecturers, Dr. Alieu Gibba and Professor Matar Njie, who allege unlawful removal.

The State argues that the tribunal lacked jurisdiction since the lecturers did not exhaust all resolution options as required by the Tertiary and Higher Education Act of 2016.

The appeal contends that the tribunal incorrectly classified the lecturers and failed to address objections regarding the parties involved, ultimately claiming the ruling is unsupported by evidence and beyond the tribunal’s authority.
