Lawyer Ousainu Darboe, leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP), received the 2025 Global Legacy in Statesmanship and Peace Award in Helsinki, Finland, for his commitment to peace, justice, and good governance.
In his acceptance speech, he emphasized the trust Gambians placed in him during challenging times and his duty to support the less fortunate. Darboe played a significant role in Gambian politics, serving as Vice President and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
