The Gambia Received a $32.2 Million Grant from the IsDB for a New Medical and Allied Health School

IsDB grants $32.2M for a new medical school at University of The Gambia to boost healthcare workforce and education under Gambia’s National Development Plan.

The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) is providing $32.20 million to establish the School of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences (SMAHS) at the University of The Gambia’s Faraba Banta Campus.

This funding was approved at the IsDB Board’s 361st meeting and aims to enhance medical education and address the shortage of healthcare professionals in The Gambia.

The project involves constructing five academic buildings, providing advanced medical equipment, and developing educational programs. The Ministry of Higher Education thanked the IsDB for its support in promoting higher education transformation in line with the government’s National Development Plan.
