After surviving a harrowing arson attack, Jainaba Janneh is still reeling from the shock as she recovers from her burn injuries. Her son targeted her in a deadly arson incident following a heated argument over his girlfriend. The son, Musa Ceesay, 25, has been apprehended after attempting to flee the scene but has not yet been formally charged.

The tragic event transpired when Jainaba, a single mother, requested her son to refrain from bringing his girlfriend into their one-room apartment. However, he disregarded her wishes, leading to a confrontation. Jainaba tearfully recounted, “I told him I didn’t want to meet the girl in the house. If you love her, inform me, and I will speak to your uncle to arrange something. But he refused.”

Despite speculations about substance abuse, Jainaba ruled it out, insisting, “Nothing is wrong with him. He doesn’t smoke; he doesn’t drink. He doesn’t even consume green tea; he is undisciplined.”

Jainaba expressed her gratitude for her other son, Baba, who saved her life by waking her up when Musa poured fuel around the room and ignited it. The fire burnt part of her body, she said.

The community has been left stunned and perplexed by this distressing incident, questioning how a son could contemplate taking his mother’s life.
