The Government of Liberia has signed a port modernization agreement with Tanger Med Engineering to upgrade the Freeport of Monrovia and the Port of Buchanan.

The initiative aims to enhance Liberia’s maritime infrastructure through a Master Plan that redevelops container terminals and cargo berths, incorporating modern security measures and renewable energy.

The project is expected to improve cargo handling, reduce port dwell times, attract foreign investment, and strengthen Liberia’s position as a key maritime gateway in West Africa. A high-level Liberian delegation attended the signing to demonstrate governmental support.
