Mufti of Mauritania, Ahmed Ould Murabit, met with Vice President Mohammed BS Jallow in Banjul on November 14 to discuss the strong ties between The Gambia and Mauritania in Islamic scholarship and cultural exchange.

They emphasized the need for collaboration to combat extremism and acknowledged the increasing number of Gambian students studying in Mauritania.

The Mufti praised their educational contributions upon returning and urged enhanced cooperation between scholars and the government. The visit concluded with a commitment to strengthen religious, academic, political, and cultural relations, particularly in supporting young Islamic scholars.
