A gathering of 100 recent university graduates in Bakau marked the launch of the second cohort of the National Youth Service Graduate Program, which is supported by the Government of The Gambia and the UNDP.

This one-year paid internship is designed to bridge the gap between graduation and job opportunities, commencing with a two-week training camp that focuses on workplace skills and national pride.

The program selected participants from a pool of over 300 applicants, as noted by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Bakary Y. Badjie.

UNDP representative Samba Jallow highlighted its connection to international development objectives.

At the same time, Dr. Lamin B. Ceesay underlined its potential to mitigate youth unemployment by linking academic knowledge to real-world skills.

Mustapha Badjie, the Executive Director of NYSS, commended the technical working group for their efforts in creating the program.
