INTERPOL Has Launched a Mission to Combat Maritime Crime in The Gambia

A distinguished delegation from INTERPOL is currently in The Gambia on a week-long fact-finding mission under Project AGWE V, which aims to enhance maritime security and address transnational crimes.

The team, which includes Farida Kaced, Borislav Gizdavkov, and Ellison Soares Machado, was warmly welcomed by Chief Superintendent Sulayman Jawara of the Gambia Police Force.

Their visit is centered on strengthening collaboration with local law enforcement in the fight against crimes such as human trafficking, piracy, and drug trafficking.

During their stay, the INTERPOL officials will engage with key institutions, evaluate operational readiness, and discuss strategies for intelligence sharing and enforcement practices.

This mission underscores The Gambia’s commitment to collaborating with international security agencies to secure its maritime corridors.
