Lamin Jabbi, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy of The Gambia, participated in the BRICS Forum in Xiamen, China, on September 16-17.
He emphasized the significance of implementing Artificial Intelligence (AI) in developing nations to bridge the digital gap. He highlighted The Gambia’s involvement in the Initiative for International Cooperation on New Industrialization with BRICS.
In discussions with China’s Minister of Industry and Information Technology, he focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in infrastructure, cybersecurity, and AI, highlighting the need for submarine cables, a National Data Center, a Digital Government Platform, digital skills training, ICT manufacturing in The Gambia, fintech, digital payments, and the establishment of Tech Parks and Innovation Centers.
