GRA Delegation Participates in WATAF High-Level Policy Dialogue and General Assembly in Freetown

The Gambia Revenue Authority delegation, led by Mr. Alfusainey K.S. Camara, attended the 7th WATAF High-Level Policy Dialogue in Sierra Leone, discussing effective tax systems, technology, and cross-border cooperation to boost revenue and tackle tax evasion.

A delegation from the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) attended the 7th WATAF High-Level Policy Dialogue and 21st General Assembly in Freetown, Sierra Leone, from September 15th to 19th, 2025.

Led by Vice Board Chairperson Mr. Alfusainey K.S. Camara, the event focused on “Financing Development Through Effective Tax Systems.”

Commissioner General Mr. Yankuba Darboe highlighted challenges such as tax evasion and the informal economy, advocating for standardized tax policies within ECOWAS and UEMOA to enhance revenue collection.

He emphasized the role of technology in improving tax compliance and the need for cross-border cooperation. Other speakers also stressed the importance of collaboration and South-South cooperation for Africa’s development.
