The Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) wishes to inform the General Public of the following:
- That all in-bound transit vehicles from the port of Dakar through Amdallai and Farafenni Customs Post should not be parked at the border. All such vehicles should be escorted upon arrival via the E-tracking System from the border post to GRA headquarters for onwards processing and payment of Customs duty and taxes without delay.
- To mitigate the losses incurred by first-time importers through fraudulent schemes, the public is notified that Customs Duty and Taxes on vehicles is only payable at GRA Headquarters in Banjul using the services of registered clearing and forwarding agents.
- The public is warned to desist from vehicle smuggling which is prevalent along the porous orders. These crimes are perpetuated by rouge agents operating along the Senegal/Gambia frontier using unapproved routes. If apprehended smuggled vehicles are liable for forfeitur and will be seized and sold off by GRA through outright sales in accordance with the Customs and Excise Act (2010).
- Importers and agents are advised to henceforth clear all vehicles parked at the above-mentioned border posts and the car park at Bond Road immediately.
- That all vehicles parked at Customs Areas for more than the prescribed 30 days will be gazetted and sold off through public auction in accordance with the law.
- The 30-day period is also applicable to vehicles and containers that arrive through the port of Banjul and are currently under customs control. Prompt assessment and timely payment Duty and Taxes are necessary to enhance trade facilitation and efficient service delivery.
