GID and DCAF Released the Final Evaluation Report for the GID Project Implemented by DCAF

The Gambia Immigration Department presented the Final Evaluation Report of its Swiss-funded Security Sector Reform Project, noting gains in transparency, gender leadership, and accountability, while preparing to implement the new GID Bill 2024.

The Deputy Director General of Immigration, Hulay Jallow, attended the unveiling of the Final Evaluation Report for the GID Security Sector Reform Project in The Gambia, funded by the Swiss Confederation and executed by DCAF from July 2021 to November 2024.

Key achievements include the formulation of the GID Bill 2024, an increase in female leadership from 4% to 21%, and the introduction of a Sexual Harassment Policy.

The GID improved in transparency and accountability, with effectiveness rising from 45% in 2019 to 57% in 2024. Despite ongoing issues with corruption and harassment, the report highlighted advancements in management and inter-agency collaboration. The GID looks forward to implementing the GID Bill 2024 to enhance border management strategies.
