Gambia’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations has achieved a leadership role at UN Headquarters

H.E. Lamin B. Dibba, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of The Gambia to the UN, has been elected as Chair of the Second Committee for the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly.

The Committee focuses on economic and financial issues relevant to developing countries, such as sustainable development and poverty eradication. Under Dibba’s leadership, discussions addressed global taxation, sovereign debt, and food security.

The session concluded on November 26, 2025, with the adoption of 41 draft resolutions and two draft decisions. Dibba will continue to chair the Committee until July 2026 and expressed gratitude for the support received.
