In the trial of Ousainou and Amie Bojang for murder and terrorism, National Security Adviser Abubakary Sulayman Jeng claimed Ousainou received a weapon from a rebel group.

The trial followed a police shooting on September 13, 2023. Jeng admitted during cross-examination that he had no direct evidence against the accused and relied on intelligence sources without having seen the weapon or spoken to Bojang before the charges were filed.

He could not confirm the motive or provide details about additional suspects. Despite questions about the necessity of his press briefing, Jeng defended it as needed for public reassurance, though no forensic evidence linked the accused to the crime.

The court allowed military officer Omar S. Jallow to testify on behalf of the defense, and the trial was adjourned until July 7, 2025.
