Gambia Chaired Abuja MoU and Presented Seal of Membership to Mauritania

Mauritania joined the Abuja MOU at the 15th Port State Control Meeting in Conakry, Guinea, with key insights on regional maritime safety and cooperation from Deputy Permanent Secretary Ms. Mariama Fofana—strengthening West and Central Africa’s shipping standards.

Ms. Mariama Fofana, Deputy Permanent Secretary, represented Hon. Ebrima Sillah at the 15th Port State Control Committee Meeting in Conakry, Guinea, from October 6-10, 2025.

She presented the Seal of Membership to Mauritania, marking its entry into the Abuja MOU. Fofana emphasized the importance of regional cooperation in enhancing maritime safety and adherence to international agreements.

The meeting brought together various stakeholders to discuss maritime safety, security, and environmental protection in West and Central Africa.
