A large crowd gathered at Westfield on July 23rd to protest corruption in public and private institutions, organized by Gambians Against Looted Assets (GALA).

Protesters, including young people, activists, politicians, and seniors, chanted for change and accountability, holding signs that demanded an end to corruption.

GALA’s spokesperson, Saibou Camara, presented five demands and petitions to various public offices, including the Office of the President and the Ministry of Health, addressing issues like the $30 million petroleum scandal and Acute Kidney Injury cases.

Petitions were also sent to the National Assembly regarding land allocations and to the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) about the lack of standard football fields despite significant funding.

Solicitor General Hussein Thomasi and Hon. Abdoulie Ceesay collected some petitions, while no representative from the GFF attended.

Activist Madi Jobarteh expressed frustration over government mismanagement of resources and called for resignations within the National Sports Council and the GFF. The protest concluded with Mahmoud L. Jawla collecting the petition on behalf of the GFF.
