The Minister of Information, Dr. Ismaila Ceesay, reported that investigations into possible corruption related to the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) and the Ostend Project of the Banjul City Council have concluded and are now with the Attorney General’s Chambers for legal evaluation.

He addressed the public’s concerns about the slow response to audit reports, confirming that police inquiries regarding the IEC’s alleged misappropriation of public funds have been finalized. At the same time, investigations into the Ostend Project await legal guidance.

The finance director and fund manager of the Social Development Fund (SDF) have been charged and are currently on administrative leave pending further action. Two employees of the National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC) have been dismissed amid ongoing investigations.

In addition, the Managing Director of the Gambia Public Printing Corporation has been on administrative leave for approximately six to eight months due to an ongoing internal investigation.

Minister Ceesay reiterated the government’s dedication to upholding the rule of law and the judicial process for prosecutions.
