The China-Africa Economic Partnership for Shared Development offers duty-free access to Chinese markets for all African countries, pending agreement.

This announcement was made at a meeting of African foreign ministers in China, which reviewed the outcomes of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) 2025.

Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the goal of enhancing market access for African exports, particularly from the least developed countries, to deepen economic ties between China and Africa.

Previously, zero-tariff treatment applied to only 33 African nations. In 2024, China surpassed the United States to become Africa’s largest trading partner, with total trade reaching approximately US$300 billion.
