Nathi Mthethwa, the South African Ambassador to France, was found dead outside the Hyatt Regency in Paris, with no signs of foul play.

Investigations are ongoing, and while a message to his wife hinted at suicidal intentions, the family rejects this notion. A five-member team from South Africa’s police is assisting in the inquiry.

President Cyril Ramaphosa will deliver the eulogy at Mthethwa’s funeral on Sunday. Mthethwa had been in the ambassador role since late 2023 and previously held cabinet positions in arts, culture, and sports.
