As Ramadan approaches, the Abubakary Jawara Foundation, founded by Abubakary Jawara, the CEO of GACH Global Company, has initiated its annual Ramadan package. This initiative, valued at over D8 million, aims to support underprivileged households across The Gambia. The package traditionally contains 7,000 bags of rice and 2,000 bags of sugar, designed to alleviate poverty and foster community solidarity during the holy month.

In previous years, the foundation has distributed thousands of bags of rice and sugar, along with other essential items, as part of its corporate social responsibility and commitment to the socio-economic development of The Gambia. This year’s distribution is expected to uphold this tradition, reflecting Mr. Jawara’s dedication to philanthropy and his belief in giving back to the community.

The foundation’s initiatives extend beyond Ramadan and back various community projects throughout the year, including electrification efforts and donations to local groups. Mr. Jawara’s charitable endeavors have garnered numerous accolades, including being named Gambian of The Year 2024 by The Standard Newspaper.

Imam Abdoulie Fatty praised Mr. Jawara for his generosity and offered prayers for his well-being, noting that assisting the needy, especially during Ramadan, is exceptionally rewarding. Imam Chebo Cham also commended Mr. Jawara and encouraged other affluent Gambians to emulate his philanthropic spirit.

Yusuf Jawara, GACH CEO’s elder brother, praised his humanitarian efforts, emphasizing their vital role in promoting Islamic values and alleviating hunger. “Mr. Jawara’s philanthropy exemplifies his commitment to sharing resources with those in need, a practice he has inherited from his family,” he remarked.
