The Gambia has progressed to the next stage of the CAF TotalEnergies WAFCON qualifiers after a convincing 2-1 victory over Niger at Stade Lat Dior in Thies, Senegal, securing a 4-1 aggregate win.

The Queen Scorpions previously recorded a 2-0 victory in the first leg held in Niamey earlier this week. Massey Darboe initiated the scoring for The Gambia with an early goal in the 11th minute; however, Niger quickly responded, equalizing just a minute later. Fatou Kanteh then regained the lead for Gambia just before halftime.

With this triumph, our women’s team is poised to face the matchup winner between Kenya and Tunisia in the next round of qualifiers. The team’s impressive performance has generated excitement among fans, who remain hopeful for continued success as they pursue a spot in the prestigious WAFCON tournament for the first time.
