Ethiopia’s coffee sector has experienced significant growth at the start of the fiscal year, exporting 80,000 metric tonnes and generating $546 million in just two months.
Last year, exports totaled 470,000 tonnes worth $2.2 billion. Key factors for this growth include improved supply chains for direct sales to international buyers, new washing and grading facilities enhancing quality, and decentralized inspection processes.
The government’s goal is to increase coffee exports to 600,000 tonnes and revenue to $3 billion annually.
