Gunjur-Berending-Land-Dispute-Resolution

Gambian Authorities have planned a boundary demarcation between the communities of Gunjur and Berending on Thursday, July 10, 2025, to resolve a long-standing land dispute.

The Department of Lands and Surveys informed key stakeholders and requested police presence for security during the process. The dispute, stemming from overlapping land claims, has caused occasional tensions, including a significant standoff in 2019.

A government task force reviewed historical records and consulted with community leaders to prepare for this resolution. Local leaders express cautious optimism about the demarcation, believing it will bring clarity and reduce conflicts.
