Defence Minister Serign Modou Njie reported to the National Assembly that two soldiers were found with items allegedly stolen from former President Jammeh’s house, which is now a military barracks.
The theft, involving several significant items, prompted a military investigation that recovered some stolen goods but left many items missing.
Minister Njie assured disciplinary action would be taken against the soldiers and called for a larger investigation team.
In a separate statement, Deputy Speaker Seedy SK Njie highlighted the need for unity against rising insecurity in Africa during a meeting in Abuja.
He stressed the importance of security forces in safeguarding national territories and called for enhanced internal security to ensure peace and socio-economic development across the continent.
He urged African legislators to prioritize defense and security issues and allocate sufficient resources to address these challenges.
