The March 23 Movement (M23) announced that former President Joseph Kabila arrived in Goma, North Kivu Province.
M23 spokesperson Lawrence Kingston Kanyuka confirmed his arrival and wished him a pleasant stay. Lt Col Willy Ngoma, an M23 military spokesperson, called Kabila a respected former leader.
Corneille Nangaa Yobeluo, who leads M23 and the Congo River Alliance, welcomed Kabila back, calling it the right decision. He praised Goma as a safe place for political figures and encouraged other Congolese leaders in exile to return to the city.
