The University of The Gambia’s Faculty and Staff Association (UTGFSA) plans to strike against the university’s decision to purchase six luxury vehicles for senior administrators for GMD 25 million.
They criticize the purchase as “ill-timed and insensitive,” given the university’s financial struggles and inability to pay staff salaries.
The association highlights low staff morale due to overcrowded classrooms and poorly equipped laboratories, warning of a potential repeat of the 2017 strike.
They are calling for the cancellation of the vehicle purchase and an emergency meeting to address urgent needs.
