The United States has approved $32.5 million in aid for Nigeria to address a severe hunger crisis, especially in conflict-affected areas.

The funding will support over 764,205 people, with a focus on nutritional assistance for pregnant and breastfeeding women, as well as children.

The World Food Program has warned that cuts in aid could severely impact food assistance in West and Central Africa.

Ongoing insecurity and violence in Nigeria, particularly in rural areas and the northeast, have resulted in significant loss of life and displacement.
