Two Gambians Died and Several Others were Injured in a Gas Explosion at a Migrant Residence in Tripoli

A cooking gas explosion in a residential building in Tripoli, Libya, caused at least two deaths and injured fifteen people, mostly Gambian migrants.

The incident occurred early Friday, May 30 in the Arada district, where approximately 35 Gambians resided. Emergency services quickly extinguished the fire and assisted in evacuating residents.

Of the fifteen injured, three are in critical condition, and twelve have minor injuries. The Gambian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working with local authorities and organizations to provide help and investigate the incident.

The ministry extended its condolences to the families of the victims and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Gambians abroad.
