The National Police Service reports that the shooting of Kasipul MP Charles Ong’ondo was a planned attack. The incident occurred at the City Mortuary roundabout on Wednesday night, where assailants were shot on a motorcycle. Despite being rushed to Nairobi Hospital, he was pronounced dead on arrival.

No arrests have been made yet. National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula condemned the killing, calling it a national loss, and urged a thorough investigation. The motive remains unclear, with online theories linking the assassination to violence in Were’s constituency and his criticism of government officials. The police are committed to investigating and bringing those responsible to justice.
