Senegal’s President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko are reshuffling the cabinet due to public dissatisfaction over reforms and economic issues.
Sonko is forming a “government of combat” to tackle debt, poverty, and restore public trust, with key appointments including Yassine Fall as Minister of Justice and Cheikh Niang as Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Critics point out a lack of action on past abuses. Sonko is focusing on an economic reset through domestic funding and has canceled a trip to France but plans to host the French President and visit the UAE and Italy.
