The Sanyang Youth Association for Environmental Protection and Development (SANYEP) is actively restoring degraded mangrove wetlands in Sanyang, Kombo South, to address the significant mangrove dieback.
On August 25, they planted thousands of young mangroves over 11 hectares, following a previous restoration of 12 hectares in Tanji.
Executive Director Habib Bojang emphasized the ecological significance of mangroves as vital fish breeding grounds.
The local community, along with organizations like Blue Ventures, supported this initiative aimed at protecting coastal areas from climate change and enhancing local ecosystems, which benefits fish stocks and overall coastal health.
