Russian President Vladimir Putin is interested in meeting US President Donald Trump next week in the UAE, amidst a White House ultimatum for Russia to show progress in the Ukraine war.

A tentative location for the summit has been chosen, but Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will not participate, though his involvement could be considered under certain conditions.

If the meeting occurs, it would be the first US-Russia summit since 2021 and could impact conflict resolution, although differing peace terms make outcomes uncertain.

Zelenskyy has stressed the need for European involvement, especially as support for continuing the fight in Ukraine declines.
