The Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) approved the Electricity Quality of Services Regulations on June 11, 2025. This document aims to enhance the quality of electricity services in The Gambia, demonstrating PURA’s commitment to delivering better service and improving customer satisfaction.
PURA was created by The Gambia Public Utilities Regulatory Authority Act in 2001 and is responsible for regulating public services, including electricity.
Dr. Njogou L. Bah, PURA’s Director, stressed the importance of regulation to ensure that all Gambians have access to affordable and quality electricity. He called for a fair balance between the needs of service providers and consumers.
The Deputy Director of Energy and Water stated that the primary goal of the regulations is to provide reliable electricity, minimize service interruptions, maintain stable voltage, and protect consumer rights while outlining the requirements for providers.
