President Adama Barrow has launched three agricultural projects in The Gambia, totaling over $68.4 million, aimed at modernizing farming and improving food security and climate resilience. Included in the projects are:
REWARD-Gambia: Modernizes rice production, benefiting 8,000 households through improved irrigation and market access.
P2-P2RS Sahel Resilience Initiative: Restores rice fields and provides tools and climate-resilient seeds to 67,200 vulnerable households in 19 districts.
GAMIRSAL: Creates a risk-sharing system to improve funding access for farmers, supporting 5,000 direct and 20,000 indirect beneficiaries, with a focus on women and youth.
These initiatives align with the National Development Plan (2023–2027) and aim to enhance rural economies and promote sustainable agricultural practices.
