Nigeria commits to strengthening relations with Gambia

The Nigerian government has expressed its commitment to strengthening ties with The Gambia and extends heartfelt congratulations on the country’s Independence Anniversary.

In a statement signed by Kimiebi Ebienfa, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, released on Tuesday, the Nigerian government conveyed warm wishes to Dr. Mamadou Tangara, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Gambians Abroad.

The message commended The Gambia for its remarkable progress and resilience since gaining independence. It noted, “Nigeria and The Gambia share a long-standing relationship rooted in mutual respect, shared values, and a common vision for a prosperous and united Africa. We remain dedicated to reinforcing these ties while collaborating closely on regional and global issues for the benefit of our people. Therefore, on this special day, we reaffirm our solidarity with the government and people of The Gambia and look forward to deepening our bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.”

The statement highlighted the enduring relationship between the two nations, emphasizing mutual respect, shared values, and a united vision for a prosperous Africa. Nigeria reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing bilateral relations with The Gambia, particularly in addressing regional and global challenges. It expressed hope for deepening cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

“The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, conveys his warmest congratulations to Honourable Dr. Mamadou Tangara on the joyous occasion of your Independence Anniversary. As you commemorate this significant milestone in your nation’s history, we celebrate together the extraordinary progress and resilience that The Gambia has demonstrated over the years.”
