The National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) and Qatar Charity have launched a $2 million initiative called the “Empowerment and Economic Development Project to Support the Gambia 2025” to aid underprivileged families. Announced during a ceremony with Vice President Muhammed BS Jallow, the project aims to create jobs and improve livelihoods in two phases.

The first phase will distribute essential supplies, while the second phase, starting in June, will provide cargo tricycles for transportation. Qatar Charity, active in The Gambia since 2019, has allocated $4 million for humanitarian efforts this year. NDMA Executive Director Sanna Dahaba and Vice President Jallow highlighted the project’s significance for Gambians, especially during natural disasters.
