The National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA), supported by ChildFund The Gambia, conducted a two-day seminar at Mansa Wally Lodge to promote disability inclusion in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) activities.
Participants emphasized the need for strategies to incorporate persons with disabilities into disaster management efforts in The Gambia. Key discussions included barriers faced by these individuals and recommendations for inclusive DRR practices.
Mr. Baboucarr Ceesay from NDMA highlighted the importance of integrating disability considerations into disaster management. His Worship, Muhammed Krubally, stressed the importance of adhering to national and international human rights frameworks.
Madam Fanta Darboe from ChildFund applauded the initiative, which also involved training on Disability Inclusive DRR, aiming to empower people with disabilities to advocate for their inclusion and ensure their active participation in all levels of DRR activities.
