Mayor Talib Explains Absence During Barrow’s Market Visit

Talib-Bensouda-on-Barrow-visit

By Adama Makasuba

Mayor Talib Bensouda has clarified his absence during President Adama Barrow’s recent visit to the Serrekunda and Latrikunda markets, which had suffered from fire incidents. He said his office was not officially informed about the president’s visit.

During a news conference held at the KMC headquarters in Westfield on Friday, Mayor Bensouda urged the presidency to enhance communication regarding future matters concerning the municipality. Despite his absence, he noted that he had appointed his subordinates, council members, and the market manager to welcome the president and his delegation warmly. He expressed his desire to attend if he had been formally notified.

“I acknowledge the head of state’s visit to the markets and would have loved to be present,” Talib said. “However, KMC was not officially notified of the visit. We respectfully request that the presidency provide timely communication to the council in the future so that I, as the head of the municipality, can be present and contribute to the council’s perspective,” he added.
