Rohey Malick Lowe, the mayor of Banjul, has recently been honored with the Award of Excellence from the Young Africans Network for Global Goals. This accolade highlights her dedication to empowering women and youth, advancing sustainable development, and exhibiting innovative leadership.

Mayor Lowe is renowned for her commitment to women’s empowerment and is a source of inspiration through her efforts to uplift women and young people.

The network recognized Mayor Lowe for her relentless dedication to the empowerment and inclusivity of African women and her commitment to promoting gender equality.

In expressing her gratitude for the award, Mayor Lowe stated, “I was truly astounded and deeply honored to receive the Award of Excellence from the Young Africans Network for Global Goals at the African Youth Summit 2025. This recognition is significant as it reflects my commitment to empowering women and youth, fostering sustainable development, and demonstrating innovative leadership.”

She said, “We will continue to drive meaningful change and amplify the voices of women and young Africans, ensuring we achieve our collective vision for progress and unity. I extend my heartfelt thanks to Madi Jobarteh, the guests from the diaspora, and everyone who attended the program.”
